Common Questions:
1. When do your services begin?
Answer: Our morning worship service begins at 10:00 AM, and our evening service begins at 6:00 pm.
2. What denominational background is Wellspring?
Answer: Wellspring is a non-denominational church. Pastor Gary Petersen grew up in the Baptist Church and his education is from that theological background. Wellspring holds to many of the theological positions of traditional Baptist theology but we are not interested in the legalism of many Baptist traditions today.
3. Do you believe in healing?
Answer: We hold firmly to the scripture and follow the outline laid out in James 5. We believe God heals today. Does God heal everyone, No. Does God heals instantly, He can. We will never attempt to put God in a box. He is God and although things happen on earth that are difficult to understand they are all working together for His purpose! There is amazing hope and strength we can take from knowing He is in control!
4. Do you believe in speaking in tongues?
Answer: Wellspring does not practice speaking in tongues. We believe God has given us the necessary tools (Holy Spirit, Word of God, Prayer, Pastors, Fellow Believers) to grow in our spiritual maturity in todays day and age without speaking in tongues.
5. Do you believe in the elect?
Answer: We do believe that the answer of who God has chosen before the foundations of time is true. After all He is God, His omnipotence has no end. He is all knowing and infinite. God is not bound by time as finite humans are. He already knows the end of your story and where you will spend eternity.
6. If you believe in the elect, what role do humans, play?
Answer: Our first priority is stop rejecting God. The elect are the people who come to a point in their life where they stop rejecting God and submit to Him and His authority. This is not a bondage to a mean God. This is where we break free from the enemies rule in our life and we find freedom in the love of God. The enemy has entrenched this lie in our society that submitting to God is bondage, WRONG! Our mission lies with fulfilling the great commission. God has chosen to use us in his redemptive plan. What an honor to take the good news of salvation to the ends of the earth!
7. What role does baptism play in your Church?
Answer: Wellspring practices baptism by immersion. We do not practice baptizing infants. Twice a year we dedicate a portion of the morning worship service to baby dedication. The dedication is a formal declaration by parents to raise their children in a spiritual environment, and a public act to promote accountability among parents to continue growing in their spiritual journey to become godly examples to their children. Baptism in itself does not have the power of salvation. It is a public testimony to the fact that the person has accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and they are obeying God's command to be baptized re-enacting the death, burial, and resurrection.
